Support for Windows 7 is ending

It may be hard to believe but it will be 10 years since Windows 7 was launched in October 2009 and support for the popular release will be coming to an end on January 14, 2020.

What does this mean for your organization if you're stilling running Windows 7 machines?

Essentially, it means that despite being able to continue using those PC's, you'll be putting your network at a greater risk for viruses and malware as Microsoft will no longer provide security and software updates.

What should you do?

We would certainly recommend planning to replace these machines.  We have seen a number of our clients fall victim to hacks and ransomware, a situation that is worth being proactive to avoid.  Not only will you benefit from increased security, but with significant gains in performance from the improvements in technology over the past decade including faster startups, automatic updates and higher levels of security.

Lastly, when planning your next steps, be sure to determine whether any processes on those machines will need to be replaced or upgraded.
